In January 2020, the Committee of Ministers adopted the Council of Europe youth sector strategy 2030, which provides policy guidance for the period 2020-30.

This new strategy defines the framework within which the Council of Europe youth sector will continue to enable young people across Europe to actively promote and benefit from the Council of Europe’s core values.

Confirming that young people are fundamental partners in the consolidation of democracy, human rights and the rule of law, the strategy 2030 also underlines the specific contribution of the youth sector to the Organisation’s objectives, as well as its capacity to respond to new challenges facing young people and Europe. It does this by focusing on its four thematic priorities of: revitalising pluralistic democracy, young people’s access to rights, living together in peaceful and inclusive societies, and youth work.
